The regulations: responsibility of the user
The UNE-EN 15635 standard of “Storage in Metal Shelves. Use and Maintenance of Storage Equipment” holds the warehouse user responsible for carrying out an annual inspection of the facility by qualified external personnel.
This European standard aims to minimize risks and achieve a safer operation of the warehouse avoiding damage to the structure of the shelves.
The main points to highlight of the UNE-EN 15635 standard, whose objective is to guarantee the safety of warehouses, are:
Inspection plan
Our specialized technicians will carry out a rigorous technical inspection of the shelves (ITE) in which the following points will be verified:
• General condition of the shelves.
• Good condition and suitability of the pallets.
• Correspondence of the levels of the installation with those indicated in the plan.
• Adaptation of forklifts and loading units to the shelves.
• Existence and visible location of the feature plates.
• Performing the operations correctly by the operators.
• Order and cleanliness in the corridors.
• Existence and necessity of strut protections.
• Cracks, subsidence or possible damage to the soil.
• The tolerances and deformations of the shelves do not exceed certain limits.
• Identification with adhesive labels of elements in poor condition.
• Notification of possible risks of the installation and possible need to immediately download modules or levels.
Inspections by an expert
A technically competent person shall carry out inspections at intervals of not more than 12 months. A written report will be prepared and delivered with the observations and proposals for possible actions to be carried out.
Replacement of damaged items
Repairs to damaged items should not be allowed unless authorized by the storage equipment supplier.
Feature plates
They must be located in clearly visible places and inspected to verify that the information they contain corresponds to the actual installation.
Responsibility
Obligation on the part of the user company to appoint a person responsible for the safety of the storage equipment.

Preparation of a plan of periodic inspections.
